The Booklet Project:
In The Spaces Between

Select a text within 1000-3000 words to create a booklet. Utilising typesetting conventions and observing existing printed matter to design a desired reading experience, the final booklet reflects the themes and contents of the written material.

Garamond & my handwriting

Based on the project prompt, I decided to use a collection of short stories written by a dear friend to form my content. The booklet consists of six short stories, each with a single word title, reflecting themes of friendship, love and adolescence. The floral illustration of the front cover is inspired by Penguin Clothbound Classics' duotone designs, and the emblem on the book sleeve takes influence from the intimate themes of each story, all drawn by hand and vectorised. Combined with scans of my handwriting, the booklet is intended to feel delicate and personal.
